Synopsis[]
Azusa Aizawa a 27 year old corporate slave worker who dedicated her life to her job abruptly dies while on the job. Within the afterlife, Azusa meets a goddess who informs her that she died of karoshi, in other words, being worked to death. Because of this, the Goddess allows Azusa to be reincarnated in another world and will follow any request she has to make her new life in the new world easier for her. The only request Azusa has is to be immortal and the goddess agrees to it even going as far to circulate her mana to prevent her from aging. Her second request is that Azusa wants to live a slow life, only to live her life leisurely at a home on a plateau. To that request, the goddess makes Azusa have the appearance of a 17 year old and teleports her to her new world on a grassy plateau right next to her new home. Inside her new home, Azusa checks out herself in the mirror noting her witch themed clothing and her youthful appearance. Elated by the fresh start of her new life, takes a look around at the periphery and decides to go on a shopping trip.
While walking down the pathway, Azusa encounters a slime and slays it with a dagger that she had on her person. The defeated slime then leaves behind a small crystal and figuring it has some value, Azusa takes it to sell to whomever will by it. Arriving at the Flatta village, Azusa notes the antiquity of the place and gets directions from an old woman to the Adventurer's Guild. At the Guild, the receptionist Natalie welcomes and introduces herself to Azusa. For the 3 slime crystals she turns in, Natalie awards Azusa with 6 copper coins. Then in order to register herself with the Guild, Natalie uses a stone tablet to appraise her stats. Natalie is awe-stricken by Azusa's special ability for Immortality and Azusa decides to keep how she received that ability a secret. With some income in hand, Azusa decides to purchase some necessities and other items for her new life. As time passes and Azusa lives her slow life with simple pleasures and responsibilities like hunting at least 20 slimes a day to keep financially stable. Azusa's new life was magnificent and she wanted to continue this forever.
300 years pass by and after killing 26 slimes, Azusa's skill with killing slimes are so great that she can kill them with a single flick. She then heads to the Flatta village and is greeted by the residents there as the Witch of the Highlands. Because of her ability as a Witch, Azusa has a natural ability to discern various herbs and grasses for medicinal purposes. This talent allowed her to help the Flatta villagers through out the years who were in critical condition and through a plague outbreak. Naturally, Azusa was deemed to be a guardian deity figure by the villagers, which she notes as a side effect for living her life leisurely.
Turning in her slime crystal bounty, Azusa is awarded with 5,200 Gorudo by the guild receptionist. Before Azusa leaves, the guild receptionist asks Azusa what her strength is. Uncertain how much strength she has, the guild receptionist insists that Azusa has her stats Uncertain how much strength she has, the guild receptionist insists that Azusa has her stats appraised. Noting how she never once had her stats appraised within the 300 year period, Azusa agrees to have it done, but states that her stats shouldn't be impressive whatsoever. However, contrary to that statement, Azusa's stats show that she's a max level witch leaving the guild receptionist astounded by her stats and abilities. Believing that the tablet must be broken as its over 300 years old, on the other hand, the guild receptionist states that she's hunted slimes for the past 300 years. To that point, Azusa states that she has hunted a minimum of 25 per day, even more when she wants a grimoire or repairs done to her house. Another significant detail that the guild receptionist states is Azusa's Increased EXP Acquisition ability, which gives her double the amount of EXP per slayed monster. Calculating the approx number of exp Azusa would gain through out her time hunting slimes is nearly equivalent to her current EXP total that she's currently earned. Although the guild receptionist showers Azusa with praise for her strength, Azusa is left despondent over her predicament. Wanting to continue her peaceful and life, Azusa asks the receptionist whose name was also Natalie to keep her stats a secret. This leads to a small debate about Azusa's stats, but in the end, Natalie agrees to uphold her promise to not reveal them.
Sometime after Azusa returns home, she goes into the fores behind her house to verify if her stats were accurately appraised. In doing so, she casts blizzard on a running waterfall, which instantly freezes it, much to her perplexion.
